  1. Very excited that The Notorious O.M.G. was nominated, but kind of surprised that Liberty City Kings were not nominated for anything. Please check out their show Vixens & Vagabonds Queer and Kinky Cabaret sometime... it's a stitch!

  2. Thank you to the commenter above. I am honored to be nominated, but also disappointed to see that there isn't even a spot for a Best Drag King to be nominated. While drag kinging is a relatively younger art form, it has been happening in Philadelphia for well over a decade, with my home troupe, The Liberty City Kings (LiCK), turning six this October. They were preceded, I believe, by The Royal Renegades.

LiCK has run the Mr. Philly Drag King competition for a number of years to benefit the Dyke March, performed alongside queens in last year's Homecoming event at William Way, and won TWO awards in last year's Philly Gay Pride parade. Like their sister queens, the Kings' routines run the gamut from comedy to glamour to camp and everything in between. They are dedicated artists who rehearse weekly and put on amazing shows every other month at Tabu, absolutely packing the house every time.

I look forward to attending The Big Award show, but I hope that the organizers will open up nominations for Best Drag King before the big night so we can get ALL of Philly's drag performers in one room together!

  3. Hey! It's great to discover that you're organizing this event! I just added your web and twitter links to my Gay Philly Guide (page 29) as I have been fielding questions from my readers about the local drag scene for quite some time now.

Congratulations to the talented nominees for all their hard work throughout the year!

    Hugs,

  4. GPhilly needs to win! It's an interesting, informative publication, and I know the contributing editor, so that should count for something!

  6. No matter who wins, it's just amazing to see how much talent our community has and how we keep improving upon the past and continuing to make this city so great.

  7. I am very suprised that Joey Josephs is not nomiated for best vocal performer as well. Her impersonation of Judy Garland is spot on and she uses her own voice!
