NEW NOW NEXT The PhillyDragopolis Edition

2011 brought us a lot of great new drag queens.  Some may have done drag before but this was the year they blew up!  Here is a look at the queens who rose to fame in the Dragopolis in 2011 and a look at the queens on the rise in 2012!

SATINE HARLOW

Now yes Satine has been doing drag for awhile but it was her stint as a Dollstar and regular open call queen at Sinful Sundays that really made her explode last year!  Her most memorable numbers came from Katy Perry and of course who could forget "Roman's Revenge" at last year's Gayborhood Games!  Satine's on and off stage antics have always dubbed her the craziest bitch in town. And she wears that badge with Pride!  "Bubbles!" 

TAMMY FAYMOUS

This hairy chested, live singing diva didn't just sit around waiting for her big break...she made one for herself.  Not satisfied with drag just being a center city sport she created her own show in Northern Liberties called Qream at the Barbary!  Since then she has been appearing all over town!  From competing in the Gayborhood Games to The Dollhouse Review and more recently as part of Brittany Lynn's Drag Mafia.  She even won The PW's Most Talented Drag Queen Award!  "I was singing and people weren't paying attention. Then I put on a dress and they were!"  For a real treat catch her singing "Proud Mary"!

ALIZE BEAU HENNESSEY

The resident hip-hip diva of Bob and Barbara's branched out this year and became a regular open call queen at Sinful Sundays!  Always ready to shock and surprise with her crazy makeup and outrageous costumes, usually including feather adorned shoes, this girl works it on the stage!  A crowd favorite has become the crab walk (as some audience members call it).  Her fierce self confidence always pushes her to try new things!

 

PORCELAIN

Last but certainly not least we have Satan's girlfriend Porcelain, Queen of the Damned.  When this gothic queen started coming to Sinful Sundays the reactions were VERY mixed.  Most people didn't know what to do with her.  She gained notoriety during the Gayborhood Games for her creativity and caught the eye of Mimi Imfurst who went on to cast her in the Dollhouse Review!  What happened next was legendary!  In a star turn as Janet Weiss in Dollhouse's Rocky Horror...Porcelain had turned all her skeptics into fans!  Now a fire-eating favorite, Porcelain is poised to take over the world (and she just may)!  Rumor has it she eats babies...so I would get out of her way!!

AND NOW THE QUEENS WHO ARE READY FOR THEIR SPOTLIGHT IN 2012!!

SERENA STARR

This live singing, leggy drag queen with the golden voice, is easily recognizable as the tallest queen in the room, she towers above the crowd.  She has already been seen performing with Brittany Lynn's Drag Mafia during "Half and Half" at the Raven lounge! She has also wowed the crowd at Sinful Sundays.  She is slated to appear in Dragapalooza this year!  Known for wearing campy hats or bows in her hair, you will surely see alot of this talented queen in the future!

 

STEPHANIE CHIC 

Always a crowd pleaser during Sinful Sundays, this new little diva has more attitude than she can handle!  Known for her campy rap performances and doing Robyn (FINALLY!!).  She always works the crowd!  She has even snagged an elusive spot guest performing on the Dollhouse stage!  Not bad for a queen just starting out! 

AIDA SNATCHWELL

This Broadway sweetheart is the little drag queen that could!  Firey and full of spunk she was taken under the wing of Shelita Buffet and then Broadway Heavy hitter Diana Dharling early on!  Appearing in shows in West Chester for the most of 2011 She appeared with Brittany Lynn at the very first "Show Us Your Tunes" at Tavern.  She is very eager to make the transition into the PhillyDragopolis and she is willing to fight tooth and nail to get what she wants!  Watch out for this one!

 

HONORABLE MENTION!!

These 2 queens I have only seen perform once.  BUT that one performance was so amazing that they NEED to be mentioned!  They both are new to the city but definitely not new to drag They WILL be names we will hear about a lot! My little drag hags keep your ears open for....
