The Regina George of drag is at it again!! There is some buzz around the Dragopolis surrounding the gayborhood games. It seems that some of drag’s heavy hitters (who will remain nameless) are steering clear of competing in the event because, a one Miss Diana Dharling, is a shoe-in to win it. The reason you may ask? Well it’s primarily because of who is the event‘s producer! The buzz is that the contest is going to be swayed in the direction of the uber producer’s favorite drag queen (minus Brittany Lynn of course, who, by the way is hosting the event…of course). Could that be true? I can’t believe it! Maybe it's the return of the broadway diva that has some of the girls shaking in the high heels? I mean Diana did direct and choreograph Dragapolooza and she has been on hiatus from any of the major shows to perfect her number!! She also has enlisted two sexy background dancers, the super twink (and sometimes drag queen himself) Geo Steven and ruggedly handsome Joe Caputo! I guess the only way to find out is to be there and see how it all unfolds!! Oh Diana, I love how you can stir the drag pot even when you are not around!!
UPDATE: Last night at the Dollhouse I was shocked to see sitting around the center round table none other than Crystal Tee Electra, Brittany Lynn and….yes…out of hiding....DIANA DHARLING!! They asked me to join them which was so nice (thanks ladies) and we dished the night away waiting for the always prompt show to start! HAHA! I did not know what to expect This is the first time I am aware of that Diana had been in the same room as the queens from the Sinful Sunday show!! Was there going to be judgement?? Awkwardness?? DRAMA?? Well there were some comments thrown around, though nothing too juicy to report my drag hags or you know I would. Just some playful jabs. But to my surprise, being the utmost professional and having respect for the performers, Diana was out there tipping every girl!! Isis even jumped off the stage at one point and danced with them!! Have the battle lines been withdrawn?? Could there be peace coming to the Dragopolis?? Let’s hope not! HAHA I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Hi Phillydragopolis - Thank you for yet another post on Nightlifegay.com's Gayborhood Games. As you may or may not be aware, I am the producer of the event.
ReplyDeleteAs per this posting, the games are always scored by an independent panel of judges and I have no bearing on their score. Although, I have not released the judges' names to date, they are all respected members of the Philadelphia LGBT community. To prove the games are not biased, I invite a Phillydragopolis representative to join the judging panel and then review the final tally of the score cards. If you would like to take me up on my offer please email me at byelk@nightlifegay.com.
FYI: The winner of the drag competition will have the option to perform at the U.S. Mr. Gay event on November 18-19, 2011. This is a great opportunity for any drag performer to gain exposure on a national level.
With that said, I think those "heavy hitters" should put up or ....well, you know.
xoxo
